Ronda Rousey Beat Gina Carano, But...

4-minute read.
Some haymakers across the news:

- Walmart gradually tests and leans more into AI, are more layoffs underway?
- Busy professionals are upgrading the spaces where they work, live, host, and recharge
Ronda Rousey Beat Gina Carano, But...
The entire event seems a little too convenient. Ronda came back from two losses: First loss was against Holly Holm, which stopped her winning streak. The second loss was against Amanda Nunes, a devastating loss. She never sought rematches for those two matches.
She conveniently comes back 10 years later against an opponent she can beat. Against an opponent who would give her a shot at redemption. Do you not notice a Jake Paul pattern there? Wasn't Jake Paul picking opponents he knew he could beat earlier on in his boxing career?
This looks like a quick cash grab for Most Valuable Promotions, Jake's company. Prior to this fight, Gina Carano was overweight, pre-diabetic, and depressed. It was Ronda's offer that got her back to the Octagon.
A little too convenient for Ronda, no?
From Content Creator to Multi-Millionaire Fighting Promotions Company Owner
Most Valuable Promotions, Jake Paul's boxing and mixed martial arts company he co-founded with his adviser Nakisa Bidarian was behind Netflix's first MMA live event this past Saturday, May 16th, 2026.
Jake Paul has personally come a long way. He started out as a content creator on Vine, a pioneering social media platform in the short form video content space. Then became a YouTuber. After massive success on YouTube, acquired through consistent uploads he went for acting opportunities and landed roles in some of Disney's shows.
Like most YouTuber's and content creators he tried becoming a professional musician, releasing songs on his YouTube channel. He later transitioned to professional celebrity boxing and paved the way for most celebrity boxing events we see today.
Now, he owns a fighting promotions company that's said to give Dana White, and the UFC, a multi-billion dollar organization, sleepless nights. Do you find his journey inspiring? Something we can all learn from or do you attribute it to luck and circumstance?
Walmart Gradually Tests and Leans More Into AI, Are More Layoffs Underway?
Walmart officially said it’s cutting or relocating about 1,000 corporate jobs as part of a restructuring of its technology, product, design, and AI-related teams. Sounds like Walmart is trying to soften the news by creating ambiguity.
The company says the goal is to simplify how work is organized, remove duplicate roles, and build more of Walmart’s business on one shared global platform instead of separate systems for Walmart U.S., Sam’s Club, and international markets. Some affected employees have reportedly been asked to relocate to Walmart hubs in Bentonville, Arkansas, or Northern California.
Reports into how many of these affected employees are being asked to relocate isn’t clear. However, if layoffs are affecting teams outside of Arkansas and Northern California, asking someone in a different state to relocate in order to save their job doesn’t help much.
The layoffs come as Walmart pushes deeper into tech, e-commerce, automation, advertising, delivery, and AI. But the company is not officially saying AI replaced these workers. This looks like they are testing and gradually leaning more into AI and more layoffs may be underway.
