Netflix Buys Ben Affleck’s AI Movie Startup
Netflix has acquired InterPositive, an AI filmmaking startup founded in 2022 by Ben Affleck.
The company builds AI tools for post-production, helping fix lighting, repair missing shots, remove stunt wires, and clean up visual errors.
Financial terms weren’t disclosed, but all 16 engineers will join Netflix and Affleck will stay on as a senior advisor.
The AI is trained on the actual footage from the movie or TV show being made, helping speed up technical work as Netflix brings AI into film and TV production.
AI Just Made Its First Bank Payment in Europe
Mastercard and Banco Santander just completed Europe’s first real payment executed by an AI agent using Mastercard’s payment network and Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI infrastructure.
Instead of a human clicking “pay,” the AI followed preset rules and completed the transaction itself inside a regulated banking system.
This points to the rise of agentic commerce, where AI assistants don’t just search or recommend things, they actually buy them.
In the future, you might tell an AI to book a flight or order groceries, and it searches, decides, and pays automatically.
New York Cracks Down on AI Doctors and Lawyers
New York lawmakers introduced a bill that would ban AI chatbots from pretending to be doctors or lawyers or giving licensed professional advice.
If a chatbot provides legal or medical guidance and someone is harmed or misled, the company behind the AI could be sued.
The bill already passed the New York Senate Internet and Technology Committee in a 6-0 vote and is moving forward in the legislative process.
Lawmakers say the goal is to protect people from relying on AI systems that can sound confident and human even when they’re wrong.
Wendy’s Is Hiring a $100K Burger Taster
Wendy's says it’s hiring a Chief Tasting Officer who will get paid about $100,000 to taste menu items like burgers, fries, and Frostys and post reactions online.
Applicants don’t need formal qualifications. Wendy’s jokes you only need a mouth, a pulse, and opinions.
The job is part real role, part viral marketing stunt to get people talking about the brand.
To apply, candidates must submit a short video, and the winner becomes Wendy’s official food taster and social media personality.
